Abstract
251,918. Braibant, N. Sept. 5, 1925, [Convention date]. Clinometers.-Apparatus for use on ships or aircraft for indicating and recording rolling and pitching comprises a housing containing two independent pendulum devices of the kind described in Specifications 204,316, 207,159, 207,506, and 218,964, the axes of the two pendulums being at right-angles to each other. Each indicator comprises a weight 3 pivoted on an axis 5 and carrying a vane or paddle 10 immersed in liquid in a chamber 1 with sloping sides, the upper edges 4 of which conform to the shape of the lower surface of the weight. The weight carries a toothed sector 6 gearing with a pinion 8 carrying a pointer 9 moving over a graduated dial, the transmission ratio being made large to increase the sensitiveness. The two indicating dials are preferably arranged so that one is horizontal and the other is inclined at 45‹. The vane 10 may be weighted. The recording device comprises a stylus &c. 16 on the axis 5 marking on a strip 17 which may be disposed either inside or outside the housing.
