Abstract

A wristband is provided for alerting an owner when one of their personal belongings, for example their mobile phone, is further than a predetermined distance from them. The alert range may be preset by the owner. The wristband may be linked to the mobile phone via an application. The alert may be provided via vibration or sound.

Description
Device to prevent loss of belongings The idea being proposed is a feature that can be implemented into a Wristband or other mechanism that alerts the owner if one of their selected personal belongings is further then a selected radius. The main proposed use is for mobile phone devices, and so a wristband can be worn which is linked to the mobile phone through an application and so when the mobile phone has exceeded a distance limit, the wristband will then alert the owner. The owner can be alerted through vibration or sound. Furthermore, this idea can also be used for other personal belongings, dependent on how the owner decides to use the product, such as, keys, bicycle, and handbag. Other then the mobile phone, the other belongings that can be used in conjunction with the wristband and will also need to have a disguised device attached or inserted in them in order to sync to the wristband. To make this an attractive product overall, this feature on the wristband could be used alongside existing other features, such as tracking the exact location of the item. The design for this product has not been completed, as it is the idea that is to be patented.
This product promotes prevention of theft, as thieves are less likely to steal something if they know that this product is about. Particularly on phones, there are current features that will help locate the phone, however, this feature will allow the individual to be notified when their belonging has exceeded a certain distance and so they are able to act faster in retrieving it back. Though, this feature doesn't only help protect against thieves and decrease crime, it is also prevents individuals from losing, misplacing or forgetting their items and so this feature would be convenient.
This feature will add value to existing products.
