Abstract

A reusable and disposable drink carton cap comprises a stem for insertion into the drink carton with the stem including formations, such as a screw thread 3 or flaps (9 fig 3) to sealingly hold it within the carton, a pouring spout 1 in communication with the stem and a lid 7 to selectively close the spout 1. In use the cap can pierce the foil of the carton and be secured in place. A straw can be disposed in the central cavity (8, fig 2). The reusable and disposable Drink Carton cap allows the easy resealing of drink cartons for later consumption and easy storage.

Description

A reusable and disposable Drink Carton (also known as Poppers or Juice Boxes) cap
Background
This invention relates to a reusable and disposable cap for use with Drink Cartons.
Drink Carton drinks arc popular throughout the world, particular with children, due to them being easy to drink through the straw that is supplied with the carton. However once the straw has been inserted it is intended that the drink should be consumed in a single sitting.
Given that the majority of carton drinks are aimed toward children it is regular for the drinks to be unfinished in one sitting and at this point since storage is difficult due to unseal able nature of the opening (straw and hole pieced in foil) means they are often disposed of unfinished.
Statement of Invention
To overcome the need of consuming the Drink Carton drink in a single sitting, the presented invention proposes a reusable and disposable cap that allows a Carton drink to be resealed without any modifications to the carton itself. The presented invention also allows for the straw to be inserted for later consumption without necessitating the removal of the cap.
Advantages The reusable and disposable Drink Carton cap allows for the easy resealing of drink cartons. Once the cap has been inserted it allows for the drinks to be stored for later consumption without the removal of the cap.

Introduction to Drawings
An example of the inventioll will now be described by refelTing to the accompanying drawings: Figure I -shows a side view of Drink Carton cap; and Figure 2 -shows a cross section of the Drink Carton cap; and Figure 3 -shows an alternative design option
Drawings Details Description
The drink carton cap is in essence a small tube (1) the tip of which is graduated to a point (2) to allow easy piercing of the drink carton foil seal. Once the tip has pierced the foil the coarse but gradually widening thread (3) allows for a single twist insertion to reach the lead point (4) into the sealing thread ring (5). The sealing thread ring is to provide a snug fit to the drink carton cardboard and the finger grip (6).
The finger grip is provided to allow easy insertion, the design here shows a basic cylindrical grip however this could take many different forms to allow' customization to to suit drink manufacturer requirements.
Once the cap has been inserted into the drink carton the lid (7) can be removed to allow the insertion of the drinking straw into the central cavity (8) of the drink carton cap.
Again the design shown here shows a basic cylindrical lid however the lid could take many different forms to allow customization to suit drink manufacturer requirements.
An alternative version of the drink carton cap could utilize a push insert opposed to the threaded guide. The push insert utilizes soft gradually widening flaps (9) that allows a single push insertion.
