Abstract
A holographic image shown on a screen 1 of a bird of prey which will be coupled with an acoustic system 3 sounding the hunting calls of the bird of prey or the distress call from a pest species of bird. The hologram allows the image to move in a realistic and life size way. Coupled with an acoustic system this will provide the effect of having a real life bird of prey in the area. The system can be powered by either solar power (fig 3/4) or by mains electricity 4. The system is mounted on the wall 2 or free standing. A canopy (fig 4/4) can be fitted to protect from the weather or provide shade as this may produce a clearer image.
Description
ifor'f r'c*r Hr fnn &L1⁄4 LRJ Bird Deterrent' This invention relates to a device used to scare birds from large areas. The birds in question could range from anything between a pigeon to a gull or sparrow. Currently the main method of removing pigeons for example from a roof or area is to install netting or a spiking system. These materials are expensive and to cover large areas using these methods can cost tens of thousands of pounds.
Sta4ement of Invention This bird deterrent system will combine both visual and acoustic deterrents into one single unit as well as using different methods.
This system will first include an acoustic system using the mating or hunting calls of birds of prey.
Pest species of birds instinctly recognise these calls as a sign of danger thus scaring them from a particular area. As these systems are effective only on a small level additional methods are required. The second part of this product will include a visual effect. Fake mock ups of owls or kites in the air don't provide enough sustainability to keep birds away. Due to these systems not always moving pigeons become wise to this and realise no danger is present. So to add to the acoustic deterrent a 3D hologram of a bird of prey will be shown either constantly or at intermittent intervals depending on the site and ts requirements.
Using a lifelike, moving, 3 dimensional image and sound of a bird of prey on a site will create an illusion birds are going to find as real and lifelike as ever. Birds will not be able to get used to the system as it can be moved to different positions and show images of different birds of prey as well as different sounds either constantly or at random intervals.
Both aspects described will be assembled and supplied as a single unit.
Because roofs or large areas are hard places to find power then this system will either be powered by the mains or by solar power.
Advantages would include: * Combination of both visual and acoustic * The highest quality of a visual aid providing real life authenticity * Portable enough so that it can be moved about a roof or area.
* Solar power is an advantage to the environment as well as providing more convenience of use.
* Used in both large and small areas * Inside or outside use.
* More cost effective alternative to netting or spiking systems.
Dra?v1ngs An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings.
Fig 1 -this shows the screen which will display the holographic image.
Fig 2-These tubular poles will be fixed to the back of the screen then allow it to be mounted to either a free standing or wall mounted brackets.
Fig 3-This is an example of the speaker which will use distress or hunting calls from birds of prey or the pest species.
Fig 4-A cable used to either connect to the mains electricity with the building or to the solar panel. This can be any length depending on the best position of the hologram and the best position for the solar panel.
Fig 5-This is a solar panel used to create electricity used to power the whole unit.
Fig 6-This bracket will be used to mount the solar panel onto a surface that will allow it to catch the sun as much as possible.
Fig 7-This canopy can be used to slot over the poles fixed to the back of the screen. This will help to create shade should this show a better image or protect it from extreme weather conditions.
Fig 8-These poles are attached to the underside of the canopy then fit onto brackets located at the back o the screen.
Fig 9-This flat base plate will allow the poles (fig 2) to attach to itself. The large flat area allows it to either be bolted to a roof or weighted down.
