Abstract

A device for indicating relative rotational displacement between a first member and a second member sharing a common rotational axis (such as a wheel nut and bolt), comprises a body for engaging the second member and a pointer 2. Each side of the pointer 2 has a different indication, indicating the status of the fastening process between first and second member.

Description

Descriytion The in vent/on is a maintenance device to indicate the status of the torque process of wheel nut and wheel bolt fastening.
A common method attaching a vehicle wheel to a rotating hub, using fasteners to fit the wheel, such as either wheel nuts or wheel bolts.
Specific in truck, trailer and bus applications it is common to use indicators containing a pointer to acknowledge loosening of wheel nuts or wheel bolts as a consequence of the vehicle being in service. These devices contain a pointer pointing to a reference, such that if the nut or the bolt has radial rotation -as it is getting loose -this can be recognized, as the pointer is no longer referring to the reference.
It is common to have a procedure to check the torque of the wheel nuts and wheel bolts after initial fastening of the nuts or bolts. For example after 30 minutes later and/or after 24 hours later or after the vehicle is in service for a short period, all pending on the maintenance method and procedures.
After this procedure the re-torque of the wheel nuts will be done according to the maintenance schedule as in place for other components, or when these show loosening or till next time the wheel needs to be taken off..
It is common to fit a device with indication means, with a pointer to a reference as the nuts or bolts are fitted. The pointer can also indicate the status of the torque procedure.
It is common to fit a device with a point with a red colour, and after re-torque fitting an other device with a point of a different colour, such as yellow.
This invention is a device with a pointer with indication means, where both sides of the point has indicational means of the status of the wheel fastening procedure.
Different colours are preferred as this is easy to be recognized.
A mark or a mark distinctive the status of the maintenance process and/or in addition to different colours makes also for those who has problems in recognizing of colours suitable. This device makes it possible to use one device instead of two.
