In a second embodiment a support (10, Fig 4) is provided to apply friction (e.g. via a roughened surface 12, Fig 4) to the at least one roll of bags when the roll rotates.

Description

DISPENSER FOR FLEXIBLE BAGS
The present disclosure relates to a dispenser for flexible bags for animal waste, and relates particularly, but not exclusively 5 to a dispenser for flexible bags for dog waste.
Bags for clearing up dog waste are generally provided as elongate strips of interconnected bags wound around a central core of cardboard material to form a roll of bags. The bags are generally 10 detached in small numbers from the roll by the dog owner as required.
A frequent problem for dog owners is unexpectedly running out of such bags while walking a dog, since the dog owner may remove an insufficient number of bags from the roll to take with the dog, or may take a roll of which not many bags remain, and inadvertently use the last bag of the roll.
Preferred embodimenLs of Lhe presenL disclosure seek Lo overcome the above disadvantage.
According to an aspect of the present disclosure, there is provided a dispenser for flexible bags for animal waste, the dispenser comprising:-a housing adapted to receive at least one roll of flexible bags such that the or each roll is rotatable relative to the housing, wherein the housing has at least one aperture for enabling a plurality of said bags to be removed from the housing; and attachment means adapted to mount the housing to an animal lead at a plurality of locations such that movement of the housing along the animal lead and swinging of the housing relative the animal lead are restrained.
By providing attachment means adapted to mount the housing to an animal lead at a plurality cf locations such that movement of the housing along the animal lead and swinging of the housing relative the animal lead are restrained, this provides the advantage of minimising inconvenience caused by swinging of the housing relative to the animal lead when the housing contains more than one roll of bags.
The attachment means may comprise at least one first attachment member adapted to be attached to a handle of an animal lead for restraining movement of the housing along the animal lead.
At least one said first attachment member may comprise a clip.
At least one said clip may be closable.
The attachment means may comprise at least one second attachment member adapted to be fastened to an animal lead to resist swinging of the housing relative to the animal lead.
At least one said second attachment member may comprise at 20 least one fastenable strap.
At least one said fastenable strap may comprise hook and loop type fastener material.
According to another aspect of the present disclosure, there is provided a dispenser for flexible bags for animal waste, the dispenser comprising:-a housing adapted to receive a plurality of rolls of flexible 30 bags such that the or each roll is rotatable relative to the housing, wherein the housing has at least one aperture for enabling a plurality of said bags to be removed from the housing; and attachment means adapted to mount the housing to an animal lead.
By providing a housing adapted to receive a plurality of rolls of flexible bags, this provides the advantage of avoiding a situation in which an animal owner inadvertently runs out of bags, since when the last bag of a roll is reached, a further roll containing further bags is present.
The attachment means may be adapted to mount the housing to an animal lead at a plurality of locations such that movement of the housing along the animal lead and swinging of the housing 10 relative the animal lead are restrained.
The attachment means may comprise at least one first attachment member adapted to be attached to a handle of an animal lead for restraining movement of the housing along the animal lead.
At least one said first attachment member may comprise a clip.
AL leasL one said clip may be closable.
The attachment means may comprise at least one second attachment member adapted to be fastened to an animal lead to resist swinging of the housing relative to the animal lead.
At least one said second attachment member may comprise at 25 least one fastenable strap.
At least one said fastenable strap may comprise hook and loop type fastener material.
According to a further aspect of the present disclosure, there is provided a dispenser for flexible bags for animal waste, the dispenser comprising:-a housing adapted to receive at least one roll of flexible 35 bags such that the or each roll is rotatable relative to the housing, wherein the housing has at least one aperture for enabling a plurality of said bags to be removed from the housing; attachment means adapted to mount the housing to an animal 5 lead; and a support for applying friction to at least one said roll of bags when said roll rotates relative to the housing.
This provides the advantage of assisting in removal of a bag from a roll by the animal owner using only one hand.
The support may comprise an elongate member for engaging a respective aperture in at least one said roll of bags.
The housing may be adapted to receive a plurality of said rolls of bags.
The attachment means may be adapted to mount the housing to 20 an animal lead at a plurality cf locations such that movement of the housing along the animal lead and swinging of the housing relative the animal lead are restrained.
The attachment means may comprise at least one first 25 attachment member adapted to be attached to a handle of an animal lead for restraining movement of the housing along the animal lead.
At least one said first attachment member may comprise a clip.
At least one said clip may be closable.
The attachment means may comprise at least one second attachment member adapted to be fastened to an animal lead to resist swinging of the housing relative to the animal lead.
At least one said second attachment member may comprise at least one fastenable strap.
At least one said fastenable strap may comprise hook and loop 5 type fastener material.
An embodiment of the disclosure will now be described, by way of example only and not in any limitative sense, with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:-Figure 1 is a perspective view of a dispenser of an embodiment; Figure 2 is a side view of the dispenser of Figure 1; Figure 3 is a rear view of the dispenser of Figure 1; Figure 4 is a view along Lhe line A-A in Figure 3; and Figure 5 is a partially cut away perspective view of the dispenser of Figure 1.
Referring to the figures, a dispenser 2 for flexible bags for dog waste has a housing 4 which is closed at a first end 6 and has 25 a removable cap 8 at a second end. An elongate shaft 10 extends along an axis through of the housing 4 through the interior of the housing from the first end 6, and is provided with a roughened external surface 12 to apply friction to two rolls of dog waste bags (not shown) engaging the shaft 10 via apertures in the rolls. The 30 length of the housing 4 is generally chosen such that two rolls of bags can be accommodated, but it will be appreciated by a person skilled in the art that more than two rolls could be accommodated if the housing 4 has sufficient length.
The housing 4 is provided with an elongate slot 14 having a length longer than the width of a single bag (not shown) to enable a bag to be dispensed from the slot 14 from either of the two rolls accommodated within the housing 4. The slot 14 is provided with sharpened edges 16 to assist detachment of a bag from the roll.
On the side 16 of the housing 4 opposite to the slot 14, a series of loops 18 are provided (4 are shown in the Figures) through which a strip 20 of fabric material passes. A closable Carabiner type loop 22 of plastics material or metal is secured at one end of the fabric strip 20 for enabling the dispenser 2 to be mounted to a handle of a dog lead (not shown) to restrain movement of the dispenser 2 along the dog lead. The fabric strip 20 is secured to the housing 4 by means of a securing member 24 attached to the end of the strip 20 remote from the loop 22 so that the securing member 24 and loop 22 prevent removal of the fabric strip 20 through the loops 18 on the housing 4. The fabric strip 20 is provided with a pair of fastenable straps 26 of hook and loop type fastener material to enable the strip 20 to be secured to the dog lead to prevent swinging of Lhe dispenser 2 relaLive Lo Lhe dog lead. A clip 28 of plastics material is also provided between the fastenable straps 26 on the housing 4 to enable the housing 4 to be mounted tc the housing of a retractable dog lead (not snown).
The operation of the dispenser 2 shown in the Figures will now be described.
Before walking a dog, the dog owner ensures that the housing 4 of the dispenser 2 contains two rolls of waste bags. This ensures that if the end of one roll of bags is reached, further bags are contained on the other roll. The housing 4 is then secured to a non-retractable lead by means of the loop 22 and fastenable straps 26, or to the housing of the reel of a retractable lead by means of the clip 28. The cap 8 of the housing 4 is removed and the rolls of bags are placed inside the housing 4 and are mounted to the elongate shaft 10 and arranged such that a bag protrudes out of the slot 14. When a bag is to be detached from a roll, by pulling hard on the roll, where necessary with assistance from the edges 16 of the slot 14, the friction applied to the roll assists in removal of the bag from the roll.
It will be appreciated by persons skilled in the art that the above embodiment has been described by way of example only and not in any limitative sense, and that various alterations and modifications are possible without departure from the scope of the disclosure as defined by the appended claims.
