Description
Description
Parking Area Surveillance system The present invention generally relates to a parking area surveillance system.
Several systems and methods of parking area management are known, especially dynamic parking management systems and methods. For example, such methods and machine are disclosed from US20050280555A1 and include use of an intelligent software engine that, in some embodiments, interfaces with a wireless mesh network and multi-channel communication devices. Patent application EP 3270348A1 relates to an automated fee management system for controlled parking areas which are developed along roads that serve moving vehicles and generally in areas where is not easy or beneficial to restrict their entry or exit points in order to enforce parking control at those points. W02012040478 Al discloses an machine and a method to detect vehicle theft, whereby if a vehicle is determined to be absent and an authentication credential to un-park the vehicle has not been validated, a notification action may be transmitted to appropriate personnel to indicate that the vehicle has been moved or un-parked without proper authentication. However, the published technology in this respect is subject to improvement, since aftermarket lock systems and anti-theft systems are complex and expensive.
The technical problem to be solved, in this context, is to design 30 a parking area surveillance system that may be used on various vehicles of all types, shapes and sizes.
Therefore, the object of the invention is to solve the deficiencies of the mentioned prior art and to provide a versatile parking area surveillance system.
This objective is achieved according to the invention by means of the technical characteristics mentioned in the independent claim, namely a parking area surveillance system.
Further advantageous embodiments are the subject matter of the 10 dependent claims.
The subject-matter of the present invention is a parking area surveillance system comprising at least one parking area surveillance machine that includes: -a vehicle identifier with a vehicle identification interface adapted to get vehicle identification information from a vehicle identification tag; -a user module with a user interface adapted to receive and to confirm: a) a parking service request introduced by a user associated with a vehicle being monitored within the parking area; and b) user identification information; and further on, to associate the parking service request with a payment mode, the vehicle identification information and the user identification information and to send a payment demand to a payment processing module; -a payment processing module adapted to receive the payment demand, to send the payment demand to an authorization server, to receive a response from the authorization server and to send the response to the user interface; -a cellular communication module adapted to transmit service-related information to a mobile communication network for transmission to a mobile communication device associated with the user identification information; and -a wireless communication module adapted to transmit service-related information to a wireless communication deviceassociatedwiththeuseridentificationinformation.
The main advantage of implementing such a system is the vast adaptability to the most various types of vehicles (including bicycles), without expensive infrastructure.
Further special features and advantages of the present invention 10 can be taken from the following description of advantageous embodiments by way of the accompanying drawing.
Fig. 1 is a schematic block diagram of a parking area surveillance machine, according to the invention.
Referring now to Fig. 1, a schematic view of a parking area surveillance system is shown. A monitored parking area A is equipped with at least one parking surveillance machine 1. It incorporates a radio frequency identification (RFID) reader 2 able to read a radio frequency identification tag 3 in a predetermined range (for example, 20 m or more), covering the monitored parking area. Each vehicle is equipped with a unique radio frequency tag 3 which is read by the reader 2 of the parking area surveillance machine 1.
More precisely, the parking area surveillance machine 1 is a multi-functional machine that includes numerous modules and interfaces, as follows: the reader 2 with a RFID interface adapted to get vehicle identification information from the RFID tag 3; a user module 4 with a user interface adapted to receive and to confirm: a) a parking service request introduced by a user associated with a vehicle being monitored within the parking area; and b) user identification information, and further on, to associate the parking service request with a payment demand, the vehicle identification information and the user identification information and to send a payment demand to a payment processing module 5. The payment processing module 5 is adapted to receive the payment demand, to send the payment demand to an authorization server, to receive a response from the authorization server and to send the response to the user interface, the information being encrypted and secured along the communication. Furthermore, there is included a cellular communication module 6 adapted to transmit data, as for example confirmation and further service-related information to a mobile communication network for transmission to a mobile communication device 8 associated with the user identification information. Also, it is provided a separate wireless communication module 7 (able to communicate across at least one of a Wi-Fi channel or a radio link) adapted to transmit confirmation and further service-related information to a wireless communication device 8 associated with the user identification information.
In the moment a vehicle V enters the monitored parking area, the reader 2 read the tag 3 of the vehicle. After parking, the vehicle driver, for example, or another person interested to get the vehicle monitored within that parking area -called in the following description "the user" -may choose to get an antitheft service via the user interface, in fact a human-machine interface, the antitheft service being subject to payment. In this case, the user interface displays the radio frequency identification read from the vehicle, for confirmation by the user and requests a mobile phone number where a SMS can be sent, for example. The user introduces his phone number, for example, and is asked for a confirmation. As soon as the vehicle identification data (vehicle tag read) and user identification data (the phone number) are checked and confirmed by the user, the payment is done with a contactless card, for example, read by the payment processing module 5. Once the payment authorization is confirmed, if the vehicle exits the monitored parking area where the reader 2 cannot read the tag 3, the parking area surveillance machine 1 sends an alarm message to the mobile phone number provided by the user. The alarm message can be sent via the cellular module or the wireless module.
The RFID tag 3 maybe embodied as the RFID tag of a vehicle tire. Another variant is the one in which an RFID tag is added as a sticker to the vehicle, as to be read by the parking area 10 surveillance machine without human intervention.
However, while certain embodiments of the present invention have been described in detail, those familiar with the art to which this invention relates will recognize various alternative designs and embodiments for practicing the invention as defined by the following claims.
