Latches, lift; striking-plates for latches.- Stamped sheet-metal latches e are mounted in stamped casings a so that a projection j on the latch engages a recess i in the casing to form the pivot, and a projection o on the latch engages over an abutment p on the casing in the inoperative position to hold the latch in this position till the door is closed. A spring k acting between an abutment l on the latch and the casing tends to hold the latch in inoperative position. The striking-plate h has a projection q for disengaging the projection o, p when the door is slammed and an incline n tending to re-engage them when the door is opened.
