Abstract

257,406. Burt Bros., Ltd., and Harris, F. H. Aug. 26, 1925. Stud-and-socket fastenings. -In a locking device for telescopic members of display stands &c., of the kind in which a lever mounted on the outer member engages recesses &c. in the inner member, the lever is mounted upon a pivot which is substantially parallel with the telescopic members so that the lever swings in a plane which is substantially at right-angles to the length of the telescopic members. In the construction shown in Fig. 1 the outer member 3 is provided with a band 1 having lugs 4 carrying the pivot 7 for the lever 11, the nose of which passes through slots in the band 1 and member 3 to engage recesses 8 in the inner member 9. The lever is provided with a finger-piece 12 and is operated against the action of a compression spring 14 held in position by projections on the lever and band. A projection on the lever may be provided to form a stop which engages the band 1 to prevent the nose of the lever from coming out of the slot in the band 1.
