Abstract

257,179. Gardner, P. March 1, 1926. Cutting cylinders obliquely.-A machine for cutting tubular fabric into bias strip has a vertical mandrel 12 with fixed portions 13, 14 and adjustable parts 15, 16 which are moved to deal with fabric of different diameters by a screw gear actuated from a hand wheel 97. The fabric is fed spirally over the mandrel by rollers 30. within the mandrel, driven by gearing from a motor. These rollers 30 co-operate with rollers 31, outside the mandrel, mounted in adjustable spring-urged bifurcated arms, and with the rollers 31 are set at 45‹ to the axis of the mandrel. A cutting disc 104, preferably of emery, is driven by a motor 102 carried on an arm 100 supported on a rod 101. On either side of the cutting disc is a spring-urged roller 31<a> co-operating with a driven roller 30 grooved to accommodate the cutting disc.
