Abstract

The present invention relates to a shear ram blowout preventer (10) with balanced push and pull pistons (11, 12, 13, 14), where the push and pull pistons is connected to ram blades (8A, 8B). The shear ram blowout preventer comprises two cylinder houses (3A, 3B) fixed to a valve housing (1). A double acting piston rod arrangement including two piston head pairs arranged in the two cylinder houses provides for the push pull action due to a high pressure fluid exerting forces in different direction to two piston head pairs.
