Abstract
This invention concerns a method and apparatus for removing noise from measured data, such as spectral data. The method comprises receiving (101) measured data comprising a plurality of sequential observations of discrete variables, carrying out (102) a method of blind signal separation to separate the measured data into a plurality of components, generating (105) at least one modified component by removing at least a portion of a noise signal present in at least one of the components and generating (107) modified data from ones of the components including the at least one modified component.
