Abstract

A blow out preventer having a main body (101) with a main passage (102) therethrough;a ram (110a,b, 111a,b) movable between a first position in which the ram (110a,b, 111a,b) is spaced from the main passage (102) and a second position in which the ram (110a,b, 111a,b) at least partly interrupts the main passage (102);a bonnet (103,104) releasably secured to the main body (101), the bonnet (103,104) comprising a hydraulic ram actuator coupled to the ram (110a,b, 111a,b).
