Abstract

A flat pack planter having four interlocking side panels and a base panel. The side panels are interlocked with cross lap joints that are cut at an angle other than 90 degrees to form a tapering four sided structure; wherein one panel will have a slot positioned at the top edge of the panel and a second panel will have a slot positioned at the bottom edge of the panel, the engagement of the upper and lower slots interlocks said panels and forms the cross lap joint. The side edge of the base panel that engages with the side panels, has an angled profile that matches the angle of the cross lap joints. When the base panel is positioned inside the four sided construction the shaped base panel holds the side panels of the planter in a square or rectangular form without the need for mechanical fittings or the adhesive glue. The planter may be square or rectangular.

The side panels are interlocked with cross lap joints that are cut at an angle other than 90 degrees to form a tapering four sided structure; wherein one panel will have a slot positioned at the top edge of the panel and a second panel will have a slot positioned at the bottom edge of the panel, the engagement of the upper and lower slots interlocks said panels and forms the cross lap joint. This invention relates to a Planter that fits and locks together without the need for additional mechanical fixings or adhesive glues.

Planters are usually constructed using a variety of methods that involve the use of additional fixing components or adhesive glues to attach and fix components together.

This invention proposes a Planter that fits and holds together by means of interlocking side panels that use a shaped base panel to provide a mechanical brace to hold the planter frame together and provide structural integrity without the need for additional mechanical fixings such as screws, nails, staples or adhesive glues.

The planter frame is constructed using four side panels, two side panels 1 and two side panels 2, each side panel with cross lap joints cut at an angle other than 90 degrees, positioned at the top edge or lower edge of the corresponding side panels.

The base of the planter is made with one base panel 3, with a side edge profile cut at an angle, to match the angle of the cross lap joints, in addition the base panel is cut to a square or rectangular shape that is larger than the square or rectangle shape formed by the four planter sides as measured across the lower bottom edge of the planter sides.

The planter sides are fitted together using angled cross lap joints to locate and position each side to form a Square or Rectangular Planter frame.

The planter base panel is fitted inside the planter frame at a position where the base rests against the lower inner side panels and provides a rigid mechanical brace that holds the planter sides in a square or rectangular form without the need for mechanical fittings or the need for adhesive glue.

CLAIM

1. A Square Planter made from four side panels that interlock and fix together by using cross lap joints cut at an angle and are held and secured in position by the fitting of the base panel with an angled edge profile that forms a square base and provides a mechanical brace to hold the planter together.

2. A Rectangular Planter made from four side panels that interlock and fix together by using cross lap joints cut at an angle and are held and secured in position by the fitting of the base panel with an angled edge profile that forms a rectangular base and provides a mechanical brace to hold the planter together.

3. A square or rectangle base panel with an angled edge profile that forms a rectangular base and provides a mechanical brace to hold a square frame together.
