Abstract

A zigzag wall (fig 3) houses a number of turbines 1 which generate electricity. The turbines are driven by the rise 3 and fall 4 of the tide. A pipe 9 contains an Archimedean screw 8 connected to the turbine by a drive belt 5. A cable 5 carries the generated electricity.

Description

TIDAL ELECTRIC POWER STATION DESCRIPTION
The slow moving tide will not power a turbine but when the tide is stopped by a wall the pressure of water is enormous especially if the wall is built in a zigzag this will increes the pressure of water where it narrows icreasing the speed of the turbines.
The Archimedean screw trapping water pressur through a tube will give more speed and power than a paddle wheel. 1 Turbine. 2 Cable carrying electricity. 3 High tide in. 4 Lowe tide out. 5 Drive belt. 6 Wall. 7 Axle. 8 Screw. 9 Motionles pipe. 10 Seafloor. 11 Turbine house. 12 Wall way.

Claims (1)

  1. CLAMES Slow moving water will not turn and power turbines at speed but when slow-moving water is traped by a wall that can be a harbour wall the pressure of water is great and if at speed goes through an Archimedean screw linked to turbines producing electricity without buring any fuel and pollution advantage over wind turbines. The wind is not constant tide power you can priedict exactly how much power you will have at any time in the future by looking at a tide timetable. Also wind turbines are contoversial altering the landscape with tide power eighty percent is invisible beneath the sea all over the world there are countless coastal communities that would benefit from a safe harbour and electricity that will supply other communities inland.
