Abstract

An earpiece having two electroencephalogram (EEG) sensors 4 on the upper surface 7 of a component casing 3. The casing houses a battery 6, a power connector 2, a wireless communications module 1, and a bone transducer 5. The device delivers sound to the middle ear via the bone transducer, and measures an EEG signal derived from the user. The two EEG electrodes touch the skin in front of or around the ear of the user.

Description

Inner Ear Transducer with EEG Feedback
Description
This invention relates to a device to deliver sound to the middle ear and measure an EEG signal from that area. A traditional ear piece and mic sits in the ear blocking eternal sound and requiring the user to speak to the microphone to communicate via the device. This device allows communication without blocking hearing or requiring speech.
In the accompanying drawing, figure 1 shows the internal components of the device where the standard bluetooth earpiece module 1 is charged using a power connector 2 and stores power for use in a battery 6 which it is connected to. The bluetooth module 1 is also connected to a bone transducer 5 in the same way that it would normally be connected to a speaker. It is also connected to two EEG electrodes 4, in the same way as to a microphone, on the upper surface 7 that sits on the skin in front of or around the ear with the component encasing 3 attached to its other side.
