Abstract

254,879. White, S. D., and Settle, T. July 10, 1925. Resistance ovens.-A heating device for an oven or water tank comprises a protecting tube 1 fitted with a removable heating element consisting of a bar 12 carrying insulating blocks 15, and spaced insulating bridgepieces 14 co-operating with the blocks to hold the resistance member 19 in position. The resistance member is a coiled wire situated in grooves in the blocks 15 and bridgepieces 14. A plate fitted to the end of the bar closes the tube and carries the heater terminals. The tube may be oval, Fig 2, or rings 13 may be fitted to the bar in the case of a circular tube, Fig. 4. Rows of the devices may be removably supported by rings 31 and cradles 32 in the top and bottom of an oven. The bus-bars are arranged in recesses 27 having doors 28. A ventilator 26 is arranged at the back of the oven.
