Abstract

This invention relates to a method for face recognition on a device, the device configured to illuminate a surrounding area from a first point and a second point, the method comprising the steps of: receiving a first image of the user; determining a location of the user relative to the device from the first image; adapting an illumination level of the device based on the location of the user such that illumination from the first point is greater than illumination from the second point; receiving a new image of the user with the adapted illumination level; and performing a face recognition algorithm on the new image of the user to determine the identity of the user.
