Abstract
A water container for use as a portable shower, comprising an expandable body 1 with means to fill the body 1 with water, means to apply pressure to the body in order for water to be dispensed under pressure, and means to control the flow of the water. The walls of the expandable body 1 are preferably folded as a concertina to allow extension and compression of the body. The opposing ends of the body are connected to casings 2, which separate from each other when the body is filled with water via a funnel 3 with a cap 4. Elastic cords 6 are connected to the casings and pull the casings together and in doing so impart a contracting force on the expandable body 1, causing the water to be dispensed under pressure, via a tubing 9 that is connected to a showerhead 7 with a lever 8 to control the flow of water. The container may have a string 5 attached to the cap 4 to allow the container to be carried and to be hung up. The container may also be used to carry liquids other than water.
Description
Portable Shower
This invention relates to a container to store water for drinking and cleansing.
Water is an essential element for life. It is also a great solvent and plays an irreplaceable role in cleansing and hygiene. In many countries access to fresh water is not readily available and it must be carried over long distances. Trekkers and campers also need to carry water for drinking and washing. But water is also a dense substance. A relatively small volume of water could be quite heavy. This puts a limitation on the amount of water that can be carried. Normally the size of a water container is proportional to the volume of the water to be carried. A relatively large amount of water is required for taking a shower. This could mean a larger container, whose weight combined with that of the necessary water could make it too heavy to carry.
The current invention proposes a design for a water container, which could reduce the burden of carrying large amounts of water and to provide the means for spray the water under pressure for showering and cleansing.
According to the present invention there is provided a water container comprising of an expanding body, means for filling the body with water and securing it within, means for carrying and balancing the body, means for enclosing the body, means for applying pressure on the body in order for the water to be dispensed under pressure, means for spraying the water as a shower and controlling the flow. A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:-
Figure 1 shows the overall structure of the container with various parts.
Figure 2 shows the compact structure with the case closed to depict the normal appearance of the container in its optimum size.
Referring to Fig 1, the proposed container has an expandable body 1 (similar to the music instrument-concertina) with folds, which extend or compress as the water content is increased or decreased. It is connected to the casing 2. The container is filled through the cap 4 with the help of funnel shape top 3. The casing 2 is to be prised apart as the volume of water reaches a certain limit.
The container can be carried or hung by the centrally positioned string 5. The water is distributed evenly within the container 1. The whole body is supported by the string 5 at the centre. So the bending moments, clockwise and anticlockwise with reference to the centre, cancel each other and hence easing the burden of carrying the container, even when it contains a large volume of water.
Elastic cords 6 are also connected to the casing 2. They apply pressure on the body 1, which in turn, transfers the compressing force onto the water within. This pressure enables water to be sprayed through the showerhead 7, which is connected to the body 1 through the tubing 9. The lever 8 controls the flow of the water through the shower.
The water container may also be used to carry warm water, provided it is made of a suitable material (e.g hot water bottle). It can also be used to carry liquids, other than water.
Fig 2 shows the device in its optimum size when the casing is closed. In this mode, the water can be filled and used through the funnel 3 and the top 4.
Claims (2)
2. A water container substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1-2 of the accompanying drawings.
