Description
PIPE CUTTER
The present invention relates to a cutter and, more particularly, to a pipe (or tube) cutter. A conventional pipe (or tube) cutter is used to clamp and cut a pipe in a rotation shearing manner. In general, the conventional pipe cutter includes a frame, two rollers mounted on the frame and resting on the pipe, and a threaded rod which drives and feeds a cutting wheel to press the pipe so that the pipe is clamped between the two rollers and the cutting wheel. Then, the frame is rotated relative to the pipe through a circle. Then, the threaded rod is rotated to drive the cutting wheel to further press the pipe. The frame is rotated relative to the pipe successively until the pipe is cut by the cutting wheel. However, the operator has to pull back the threaded rod for clamping the pipe again at each time, thereby greatly causing inconvenience to the operator in operation of the conventional pipe cutter, and thereby wasting the manual labor and the working time. In addition, it is inconvenient for the conventional pipe cutter to cut a soft object, such as a thin plastic pipe, a rubber pipe, a paper pipe or a three branch.
The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a pipe cutter having a hand-held cutting function when in use to achieve a hand-held cutting purpose.
In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a pipe cutter comprising a handle unit and a cutting unit connected with the handle unit. The first handle of the handle unit is provided with a first arm which is provided with a first hole. The second handle of the handle unit is provided with a second arm which is provided with a second hole. A distance between the second hole and the shaft is greater than that between the first hole and the shaft. The second arm of the handle unit is provided with a plurality of adjusting holes located between the second hole and the shaft. The cutting unit includes two positioning blade wheels respectively connected with the first hole and the second hole of the handle unit, a blade support locked onto the adjusting holes of the handle unit by a rotation knob and provided with a locking hole, and a movable blade wheel connected with the locking hole of the blade support. The two positioning blade wheels and the movable blade wheel of the cutting unit are arranged at a triangular state. The blade support of the cutting unit is mounted on different adjusting holes of the second arm, so that the movable blade wheel of the cutting unit is disposed at a position that is adjusted to correspond to different dimensions of objects to be cut.
According to a further feature of the present invention, the first arm of the handle unit is provided with the first hole, the second arm of the handle unit is provided with the second hole and the adjusting holes, the first hole is located between the second hole and the adjusting holes to form a triangular position, the two positioning blade wheels of the cutting unit are respectively connected with the first hole and the second hole of the handle unit, and the movable blade wheel is mounted on the blade support which is connected with the adjusting holes of the handle unit, so that the two positioning blade wheels and the movable blade wheel of the cutting unit form a triangular position to clamp an object and to provide a rotation cutting effect, so as to form a practical cutting tool that is held by hands when in use.
According to another feature of the present invention, the second arm of the handle unit is provided with the adjusting holes, and the rotation knob of the cutting unit selectively corresponds to the adjusting holes of the handle unit, to change the location of the blade support, and to shift the position of the movable blade wheel, so as to adjust the relative position between the two positioning blade wheels and the movable blade wheel of the cutting unit, so as to cut pipes of different dimensions.
