Abstract

A kit clock comprises a centre clock mechanism (1, fig 2) with hands which can be mounted to a surface, such as a wall or door, and separate hour digits (2, fig 2) which can be mounted to the same surface externally of the housing of the clock mechanism. The housing of the clock mechanism may have an upper level 3 and a lower level 4. The upper level contains the working parts of the clock, while the lower level contains a light bulb 5 arranged to shine light through twelve holes 6 provided around the circumference of the housing at each hour position, the holes being thirty degrees apart from each other. The beams of light radiated though the holes from the bulb provide a guide to assist in the accurate placement of the hour digits around the centre clock mechanism.

Description

1. 2438879 Kit Clock This invention relates to a clock where the centre
clock mechanism (hands etc.) is separate from the hour representing digits.

Other clocks have the centre clock mechanism and the digits set together usually in a housed unit.

This invention separates the digits from the centre clock mechanism and they are not in a housed unit.

The main advantage of this invention is that the individual can place the digits around the centre clock mechanism to their own specifications.

An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 shows examples of traditional clocks with the centre clock mechanism (1) and the hour representing digits (2) set together as one in a housed unit.

Figure 2 shows the centre clock mechanism (1) and the hour representing digits (2) separate and at differing distances from the clock centre mechanism (1) and not in a housed unit, according to the invention.

Figure 3 shows a side on and bottom view of the clock centre mechanism (1). It shows a two level centre mechanism. The top level (3) houses the working parts of the clock. The lower level (4) houses a working light bulb (5) and 12 holes (6) placed at the 12 hourly positions -each hole at 30 degrees from the previous hole. When turned on, the light bulb light beams through each of the twelve holes creating twelve lines of light on the surface to where the centre mechanism is attached (wall, door etc.). These lines are used to accurately place the 12 digits.

Figure 4 is a combination of both Figures 2 & 3. 2.

Claims (1)

  1.
Claims 1. A clock where the centre clock mechanism (hands etc.) is
separate from the hour representing digits.

2. A clock according to claim 1, where both the centre clock mechanism (hands etc.) and the hour representing digits are attached to the same surface (wall, door etc.) but are separate from each other.

3. A clock according to claim 1, which has a two level centre clock mechanism.

4. A clock according to claim 3 where the top level houses the working parts of the clock including hands.

5. A clock according to claim 3 where the lower level houses a working light bulb and 12 holes to represent the 12 hourly positions - each hole at 30 degrees from the previous hole.
