Abstract

A cover for a scaffolding pole comprises an elongate sleeve <B>2</B> having a bore for receiving a tubular scaffolding member <B>12.</B> The sleeve <B>2</B> has an opening along its length to enable it to be placed around the tubular scaffolding member <B>12.</B> Cushioning <B>8</B> is located within the bore and is configured to cushion the scaffolding member <B>12</B> in use. The sleeve <B>2</B> may be hinged and may be rigid. The sleeve <B>2</B> may be resilient or rigid when bent around an axis orthogonal to its length but otherwise flexible. The sleeve <B>2</B> may have a circular cross section. The cushioning <B>8</B> may be arranged in spaced apart regions of the bore. The edges of the sleeve <B>2</B> at the sides of the opening may be rounded or may have complementary formations to enable the edges to fit together. A strip of edging material, which may have an H-shaped cross section may be provided. A protective edging strip <B>20</B> may be provided around the rim of an end of the elongate sleeve <B>2.</B> The opening of the sleeve may be held closed in use by spaced apart closures which may comprise straps and strap retaining means. A cap <B>22</B> may be configured to fit on an end of the sleeve <B>22</B> in use and may have a hole through which a scaffolding member <B>12</B> can pass.
