Abstract

The invention relates to apparatus for detecting the impact of a body in a selected area comprising an impact detecting device which is adapted to be placed in the selected area and which produces output signals when impacted by the body, characterised in that the detecting device includes a functional element made from a piece of the material known as "Elektex". The body being detected may be a ball or other sports implement, especially a cricket ball. The speed and position of impact may be indicated.

IMPACT DETECTING APPARATUS
The present invention relates to apparatus for detecting the impact of a body in a selected area.
The apparatus comprises an impact detecting device which can be placed in the selected area and which produces output signals when impacted by the body.
The output signals may be electrical signals. The body may be a cricket ball.
The apparatus also comprises a signal interpreting system for interpreting the output signals so as to determine the actual position of the impact and the speed of impact and other parameters.
The detecting device comprises a piece of the material known as "ElekTex" (Trade Mark) made and sold by Eleksen Limited, Pinewood Studios, Pinewood Road, Iver Heath, Bucks SLO ONH, United Kingdom.

Claims (3)

1. Apparatus for detecting the impact of a body in a selected area comprising an impact detecting device which is adapted to be placed in the selected area and which produces output signals when impacted by the body, characterised in that the detecting device includes a functional element made from a piece of the material known as "Elektex".
2. Apparatus as claimed in Claim 1 comprising a signal interpreting system for interpreting the output signals so as to determine the actual position of the impact and the speed of impact and other parameters.
3. Apparatus for detecting the impact of a body in a selected area substantially as herein described.
