Abstract
The clip comprises a closed loop 3 a straight section 2 and an open loop with angled return 1. In use a fishing line is passed through loop 3 and through a swivel 4, or like device, which is also threaded onto the clip. The line is then wound around the straight section of the clip and through open loop 2. When tension is applied to the line the swivel is held in position.
Description
LThIE TENSION RIG CLIP This invention relates to a device for attatching
components to fishing lines.
When constructing traces for angling components are positioned on the line by the use of knots, tubular crimps or other means which constrict around the line, these methods are unsatisfactory as they can either a) weaken the line, b) are liable to slipping, c) do not allow for adjustment oF components should changes be needed, d) are time consuming and require a fair level of competence to use sucsessfully and safely.
This invention allows traces to be constructed in such a way that the line is not weakend. The position of components can be easily adjusted yet they will not move in use and greatly speeds up and simplyfies trace construction.
In Fig 1 the fishing line 1 is passed through the closed ioop 3 at the bottom of the clip and through the eye of the swivel 4 which is also threaded onto the clip. The line is then wound around the straight section of the clip, the number of turns around the clip and the clips length and the gauge of stainless steel wire used in its construction would vary with strength requirements. The line is then clipped into the open top ioop 2. Thus when tension is applied to either line 1 or the swivel 4 the link is held in position and the more tension that is applied the tighter the link is held. When tension is released the clip may be moved along the line to any required position.
The swivel 4 is not part of the clip and any round or diamond eye swivel or any proprietry clip may be used. 2.
Claims (6)
1. A clip which has a closed loop a straight section and an open ioop with a return set at an angle to the straight section.
2. A clip as claimed in 1 where the closed loop is at an angle to the straight section for a line to pass through.
3. A clip as claimed in claim 1 where the straight section has a line wound around it to fix the position of the clip on the line.
4. A clip as claimed in claim 1 where the open loop allows a line to be clipped into it.
5. A clip as claimed in any proceeding claim which is made from metal, plastics material or from a combination of these materials.
6. A clip substantially as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
