Abstract

A dual purpose device operable as a battery for a mobile phone and as a message receiving device or pager. The pager is arranged to operate in areas where use of mobile or cellular phones may be restricted. The pager includes a user interface which comprises control buttons and a display. In a preferable embodiment, the pager is operable independently of the mobile phone including instances when the mobile phone is switched off.

Description

The MRU Device Unit -This invention relates to a dual-purpose device,
which can be used with a mobile phone main body unit. See Appendix I/i -It will be charged from the main supply by integrated terminals, Figure 3, No 5, and hold a supply power for use with a mobile phone independently It will also hold and supply power for the MRU., message receiving unit.
-The unit is designed with safety in mind for users in certain environments. Namely used in areas requiring Intrinsically Safe Areas of Petrochemical Industry Safety, Hospitals, Police, Doctors, Ambulances etc.
where the frequency of the mobile phone in operation could be potentially dangerous, yet the frequency of the Message Receiving Unit device operating would not, hence making for communication to a user still possible...DTD: - Such behavioui as using a mobile phone, could very easily lead to an accident for or the user and other third parties causing serious injury in the vicinity.
-Even though many efforts have been made to prevent such accidents through Electro Static Ignition occurring, the user has to turn off their mobile phone and if necessary carry an additional piece of equipment such as a Pager Unit to keep in contact' -The two units act independently so the MRU Message Receiving Unit will still work when the mobile phone has been tumed off' The MRU has it's own control buttons and display, which allows control of the MRU features.
-Switching the Mobile Phone on again will allow normal use of the phone unit, and will have no impact on the use of the MRU acting independently.
-The device can be detached from the mobile phone by depression of the button No 2, in Figure 1 or 2, and the unit sliding off the phone unit, releasing the inter-locking Jugs Figure 3, No 4 -This device relies on a responsible person actively switching the phone apparatus off in the danger zones'.
-Whilst it is not a necessity to have the Messaging Unit on in the dangerous zones', it allows communications without the requirement for additional pieces of equipment.
-The MRU has been designed, for the antennae of the Messaging Receiving Unit to be integral. It will operate at a safe message frequency for use, and can be produced accordingly for use in whichever countiy the unit is to be used in.
-Whilst the invention can be designed using relatively simple mechanical arrangements, it is equally possible to use more complex electronic apparatus, for example, a microprocessor which may instruct activation via an audible signal that the Messaging Unit is still operational', this will aid the life of the battery pack.
-Message Receiving Unit will have a capacity to display a message. See Figure 1, No 3.
The screen display may be sized according to the required message output required.
-The MRU will have Control / Menu Buttons to aid the functions of the MIRU to be operated. See Fig 1, NoIA / lB / 1C DRAWTh,GS For the purposes of clarity of the invention will now be described with reference to the Drawn figures in which: Figure 1 shows a TOP elevation of a MRU Device' according to the invention; Figure 2 shows a SIDE elevation of the MRU Device m Figure 1; Figure 3 shows a sectional BOTTOM elevation of the socket of Figures 1 and 2, It is to be understood that the foregoing describes the specific use of the invention and is not intended to be limiting on the scope thereof
