Abstract

A device fitted to a vehicle for removing surface water from the road directly in front of a wheel comprises an air duct with an intake 1, a passage of reducing cross-section, and an outlet 3. During forward movement of the vehicle air is forced into the duct to create a high pressure stream of air which exits the device to blast water away from the road surface thereby increasing the grip of the wheel and reducing the likelihood of aquaplaning. A pressure relief valve 2 may be provided to release any excessive build-up of pressure that might otherwise cause damage to the system. A pair of ducts may be fitted to the vehicle.

Description

Air Assisted Water Remover The invention relates to the driving of a
vehicle in wet weather conditions and the braking distance required to stop the vehicle.
It is well known that with rain and snow on roads, steering and braking is far more dangerous than it is in dry weather. This bad weather causes queues of traffic and accidents; some fatal.
The objective of this invention is to give the vehicle a safer driving condition; by removing the water from the road surface ahead of the front: left and right tyres.
The system should be made of a material that can withstand high pressure and a high temperature.
The invention gathers wind resistance created by the forward motion of the vehicle. This wind resistance is channelled to the front of both front tyres, the downward force created, removes the water from the road surface ahead of each tyre, thus giving the tyres a dry surface to travel on.
A more detailed description of the invention with the reference to the accompanying drawing, are as follows.
The 3D view shows the complete design.
The wind resistance is created by the forward motion of the vehicle, this is gathered by the opening, (no.1). The constant air pressure travels along the channel towards the exit.(no.3).
The channel is reducing in size from (no.1) to, (no.3) so creating an increase in air pressure. The air pressure exiting the design at, (no.3) is in the form of a thin line.
The thin line of air pressure now strikes the road surface causing a barrier, this removes the surface water ahead of the tyre tread.
The exiting of air pressure from (no.3) is measured by the distance between the exit (no.3) and the road surface.
When this pressure is attained, a pressure release valve, (no.2) opens, so any extra increase in pressure in the design would be released preventing damage.
The front view shows that each front tyre has its own intake (no.1), pressure release valve (no.2) and exiting line (no.3), also shown is the exiting line is curved, this is to remove surface water to the side of the direction of forward travel. Claim
