Abstract
241,176. Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Willshaw, H.). Oct. 13, 1924, [Convention date]. Moulding wheel tyres.-Tread rings are formed in one or more parts of cast aluminium, duralumin, or other suitable aluminium alloy; cast inserts of the same material may additionally be provided to form the side walls of the tyre. Fig. 2 shows a mould for solid tyres comprising bottom and top rings 10, 12 engaging a base ring 20 which is provided with cast metal inserts 26 and tread ring 28. The ring 28 may be continuous or in segments; the latter being supported by a steel shell 32 having flanges 34 to embrace the side walls of the tread ring and furnished with a tapered surface 40 to engage the tapered bore of the mould ring 12. A block 35 on the shell 32 engages a locating slot 36<a> in the ring, and the rings 10, 12 are located by a dowel on the ring 12 engaging a slot in the ring 10. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes also a mould for a pneumatic tyre cover having a cast metal tread ring 28, Fig. 7 (Cancelled), and inserts 26. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
