Abstract

The mechanical lifter includes an extendible vertical mast 8 attached to a horizontal extending arm 3 rotatable on the vertical mast via bearing (Fig.3). The vertical mast is pivoted at its lower end and can be extended with member 9 (Fig.5) and the horizontal arm has a hoisting mechanism 2 on one end and can be counterbalanced with weight at the other end. The lifting mast and arm are removably attached to a movable platform having four wheels 5, and a fifth lowerable steering wheel 6 (Fig.2) that can be driven by drive 20. The platform can be towed via towing arm 23 and for this purpose standard operation wheels 5 can be replaced by larger wheels 24. For lifting operation, the device can be optionally fitted with adjustable stabilising legs 26 with footplate (Fig.6).

Description

Kerbstone and Beany Block Mechanical Lifter.
The Descrintion The invention relates to the lifting of kerbstones and beany blocks the type of which includes a mechanical aid, mobile, selfoperating equipment which is to be used in the construction of roads, duves and footpaths.
Such a lifter will solve the use of manual handling of heavy materials such as kerbstones and beany blocks on construction/building sites.
The object of this invention is to allow kerbslbeany blocks to be laid by kerblayers without Me flue of ar y other machined.
Accordingly the invention provides a mechanical lift of a kerbstone or beany block on a relatable and extendable hoist allowing the lowering of the kerbstone/beany block on to a suitable bed of concrete.
Once lowered on to the concrete the kerb/beany block is released the invention is then moved on to the next block/stone.
Preferably the invention is made of metal and is collapsible in a way that allows transport via a small van or via additional wheels which will turn the lifter into a road going trailer.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 Shows a 3 dimensional view of the whole lifter.
Figure 2 Shows a detail of directional wheel and pivot lift.
Figure 3 Shows a detail of highs adjustment and rotation bearing of vertical extending 3i'ng arm.
Figure 4 shows a detail of extending horizontal arm and hoist attachment.
Figure 5 shows a detail of vertical adjustment of lifting arm and lower pivot point.
Figure 6 shows a detail of adjustable detachable supporting feet.
As shown on figure 1 the lifter comprises of four wheels, 5 which is to allow horizontal movement the whole of the lifter, main vertical extending lifting arm 8, rotating bearing 4, extending horizontal arm 3, hoist and power supply 7.Stubb axle wheels 24 and attachment oftrailer hook/arm 23 allows for long distance movement of lifter via public road( mud guards not shown for clarity but would he attachable/detachable to lifter. Locating bolt 25 for use of counter balance.
As Shown on figure 2 a further wheel, 6 is to allow directional horizontal movement of the whole of the lifter when put into function by lining arm 19 and clamped by securing bolt 18. The lifter is then moved by drive motor 20 on steering ann 21.
As shown on figure 3 vertical lifting and extends and is clamped by bolt 11. Bearing type wheel hub is used to allow rotation of horizontal extending hoist arm 3 with supports welded to bearing plate 13.
As shown on figure 4 the horizontal extending arm 3 extends and is fixed by an over centre bolt/fixerl4.
The hoist is allowed movement of the extended arm via rollers within box section of hoist support 15.
As shown on figure 5 vertical adjustment of vertical lining arm is done by the taking out of bolt 16 and replacing into another hole. The lifting ann is allowed to pivot via bolt at the lower end of arm 17.
As shown on figure 6 adjustment of supporting foot 26 is done by bolt 27 (also doubles as brake).

  1. C. I:MS I. A mechanical rifler including a vertical and horizontal
    extending ann mounted on a movable frame as to allow the lifting of precast concrete blocks such as kerbstones and beany blocks on to a concrete bed.
