Building blocks, special shapes of.-The block, Figs. 1 - - 3, is formed with a continuous central longitudinal rib c on the upper face and a corresponding groove d on the lower face, or vice versa, and with a similar rib c<1> and groove d<1> at the end faces, the ribs being deeper than the grooves by the thickness of the cement joint e at the face, Fig. 22. No cement is applied to the ribs or grooves. The blocks may have vertical cavities b. Fig. 13 shows a wall built in this way, illustrating the form of a corner block a', an angleblock a<2> for a partition wall, and door blocks a'. The invention is also applied to T-blocks. A wall-plate a<7> to receive roof members is shown in Fig. 20. The plate is recessed like the blocks to fit the ribs c. Blocks, Fig. 23, to receive joists are provided with recesses k in the rear face. Beams.-A lintel is shown in front elevation in Fig. 15 and in transverse section in Fig. 16. The ribs c, c<1> and groove d<1> engage with blocks of standard size, the cavities b are closed at the bottom, and the lower surface is recessed at g to receive a door or window frame.
