Abstract
A foldable joint, suitable for the frame of a child s stroller, comprises a connecting member 2 and a folding member 1, the connecting member defining at least one receiving slot (22, figure 7) and the folding member having an end received in the slot. The two parts are hinged together, and the peripheries of the hinge end of the folding member and the connecting member have first and second arc-shaped surfaces (21, figure 4). When the hinge end of the folding member is rotated relative to the connecting member in the receiving slot an outwards pushing force is formed between the first and second arc-shaped surfaces. During the folding process the angle formed between the two arc-shaped surfaces may be obtuse. The joint is intended to prevent the hands or fingers of a child from being caught when the two parts of the joint are relatively rotated.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[00231 The disclosure will now be described more specifically with reference to the following embodiments. It is to be noted that the following descriptions of preferred embodiments are presented herein for purpose of illustration and description only. It is not intended to be exhaustive or to be limited to the precise form disclosed.
100241 Exemplary embodiment 1: foldable joint with lock.
(0025J FIG. 1 is a schematic view of a foldable joint, according to an exemplary embodiment. Also referring to FIGS. 2 and 3, the foldable joint includes a folding member I and a connecting member 2.
[0026] Referring to FIGS. 4-11, the folding member 1 includes a hinge end. The hinge end can include one or more sheet-shaped plates 15. If the hinge end includes two or more sheet-shaped plates 15, a slot can be formed between the sheet-shaped plates 15. A thickness of the sheet-shaped plate 15 is determined by a width of a blind receiving slot 22 defined in the connecting member 2. A side peripheral part of the plate forms an arc-shaped side surface 12. In other words, a periphery of the folding member 1 has an arc-shaped side surface 12. A hinge hole 13 is defined in the plate 15 for rotatably hinging the folding member 1 to the connecting member 2. The folding member 1 further includes a connecting end 11 configured for connecting the foldable joint to other rods of a stroller. The connecting member 2 defines a hinge holes 13 corresponding to the hinge hole 13 of the folding member 1 for hinging with the folding member 1. The blind receiving slot 22 is defined in the connecting member 2. The blind receiving slot 22 can be one or more.
The plate 15 can be inserted into the receiving slot 22. A width of the receiving slot 22 is less than a thickness of finger of a baby, or is less than mm, or is greater than 12mm, such that the fingers of babies can be prevented from being inserted into the slot 22 and hurt. A periphery of the connecting member 2 has an arc-shaped side surface 21. The connecting member 2 further includes a connecting end 11 configured for connecting the foldable joint to other rods of the stroller. The folding member 1 is hinged to the hinge hole 13 of the connecting member 2 through the hinge hole 13 of the plate 15. The folding member 1 and the connecting member 2 can be rotated relative to each other through the hinge holes 13. The plate 15 is inserted into the receiving slot 22 and can be rotated in the receiving slot 22. A folded position of the folding member 1 is limited by a bottom of the receiving slot 22. When the folding member 1 is rotated relative to the connecting member 2, a pushing force outward the receiving slot 22 is formed between the arc-shaped side surface 12 of the folding member 1 and arc-shaped side surface 21 of the connecting member 2, which can push hands or fingers placed between the folding member 1 and the connecting member 2 outwards and thus protect the hands or fingers from being hurt. A safe angle formed between the folding member 1 and the connecting member 2 is an obtuse angle.
100271 The bottom of the foldable joint formed by the folding member 1 and the connecting member 2 can also protect hands from being clamped.
[00281 Exemplary embodiment 2: foldablc stroller frame.
L00291 Referring to FIGS. 12-14, a foldable stroller frame according to an exemplary embodiment includes a foldable joint, an upper connecting rod 30, a pushing rod 60, a lower connecting rod 70, and a gathering mechanism 20.
1100301 The foldable joint includes a folding rod 10, and a connecting board 40. The structures and shapes of the first folding rod 10 and the connecting board 40 are substantially similar to the folding member 1 and the connecting member 2 of the foldable joint of FIG. 1, correspondingly, and herein labels of components that are the same with the folding member 1 and the connecting member 2 would be used for simplified
description.
[0031J The folding rod 10 includes a hinge end. The hinge end can include one or more sheet-shaped plates 15. If the hinge end includes two or more sheet-shaped plates 15, a slot can be formed between the sheet-shaped plates 15. A thickness of the sheet-shaped plate 15 is determined by a width of a blind receiving slot 22 defined in the connecting board 40. A side peripheral part of the plate 15 forms an arc-shaped side surface 12. In other words, a periphery of the folding rod has an arc-shaped side surface 12. A hinge hole 13 is defined in the plate 15 for rotatably hinging the folding rod 10 to the connecting board 40. A thickness of a front part of the plate 15 can be equal to or greater than 12mm, and a slot defined in a back part of the plate 15 can be less than 5mm. The folding rod 10 further includes a connecting end 11 configured for connecting the foldable joint to other rods of the stroller, such as the lower connecting rod 70. The connecting board 40 defines a hinge holes 13 corresponding to the hinge hole 13 of the folding rod 10 for hinging with the folding rod 10. The blind receiving slot 22 is defined in the connecting board 40. The blind receiving slot 22 can be one or more.
One receiving slots 22 can be formed by two sheets, and two receiving slots 22 can be formed by three sheets. A width of the receiving slot 22 is less than a thickness of finger of a baby, or is less than 5 mm, or is greater than 12mm, such that the fmgers of babies can be prevented from being inserted into the slot 22 and hurt. A periphery of the connecting board 40 has an arc-shaped side surface 21. The connecting board 40 further includes a connecting end 11 configured for connecting the foldable joint to the upper connecting rod 30. The folding rod 10 is hinged to the hinge hole 13 of the connecting board 40 through the hinge hole 13 of the plate 15. The folding rod 10 and the connecting board 40 can be rotated relative to each other through the hinge holes 13. The plate 15 is inserted into die receiving slot 22 and can be rotated in the receiving slot 22. A folded position of the folding rod 10 is limited by a bottom of the receiving slot 22. When the folding rod 10 is rotated relative to the connecting board 40, a pushing force outward the receiving slot 22 is formed between the arc-shaped surface 12 of the folding rod 10 and arc-shaped side surface 21 of the connecting board 40, which can push hands or fmgers placed between the folding rod 10 and the connecting board 40 outwards and thus protect the hands or fingers from being hurt.
A safe angle formed between the folding rod 10 and the connecting board is an obtuse angle. The pushing rod 60 connects with the upper connecting rod 30 and the gathering mechanism 20.
[0032] The bottom of the foldable joint formed by the folding member 10 and the connecting board 40 can also protect hands from being clamped.
[0033] Also referring to FIGS. 15 and 16, a process of folding the foldable stroller frame is shown.
[0034] The other structure of the present stroller is substantially similar to conventional strollers, and therefore detail description is omitted.
Main improvements of the present stroller are structures and shapes of the foldable joint, which can protect hands from being clamped during folding the foldable frame to insure safety.
[0035] While the disclosure has been described in terms of what is presently considered to be the most practical and preferred embodiments, it is to be understood that the disclosure needs not be limited to the disclosed embodiments. On the contrary, it is intended to cover various modifications and similar arrangements included within the spirit and scope of the appended claims which are to be accorded with the broadest interpretation so as to encompass all such modifications and similar strucWres.
