Abstract

A waste receptacle for the disposal of used cigarettes and the like comprises an outer container 3A and an inner container 4A, the containers each having an aperture 3D, (2A, figure 2) for receiving the used cigarettes or the like. The receptacle is designed so that the apertures are aligned after the inner container 4A has been placed inside the outer container 3A. The inner container 4A is made from a flexible fireproof material, which is preferably in the form of a bag, which can be removed from the outer container 3A for disposal. Preferably, the inner container 4A is provided with a support collar (6B, figure 7) which is slidably received within a mounting bracket (7A, figure 7) on the outer container 3A. This assists in aligning the two apertures, and providing a sealed system for receiving the used cigarettes or the like. Once the disposable fireproof inner container 4A is full or partially full, the outer container 3A may be opened via a lockable device 3E to remove the used inner container before replacement with a new container. The receptacle can be wall mounted or mounted on a floor stand.
