Abstract

248,911. Cowburn, T. Feb. 24, 1925. Hand tools for forming holes.-An appliance for aerating lawns &c. comprises a member provided with a handle and fitted with a number of piercers or prongs, a wiper plate to clean the prongs, a presser member to bear on the ground, and a spring or springs to withdraw the piercers from the ground after they have been pressed into it, the arrangement being such that the withdrawn piercers do not project beyond the presser member. The piercers B are shown loosely secured in a plate A having a central handle C. The presser member is a perforated disc D connected by guide bolts E to another disc F having a central boss f slidably mounted on the handle C above the plate A and a resilient! buffer J. The spring G is mounted between the boss f and an adjustable collar H on the handle C. A guiding and cleaning plate I and a casing K are provided.
