Abstract

A salt water activated emergency lighting device has a body (10) having a first and second compartments (11), (12) with a through hole (13) therebetween, an anode electrode (20) and a cathode electrode (30) in the second compartment (12), a water supply module (40), a draining module (50) and a light board (60). When the mains power is down, the water supply module (40) unblocks the through hole (13), and salt water in the first compartment (11) enters the second compartment (12) and reacts with the anode electrode (20) and the cathode electrode (30) to generate and supply power to the light board (60) for emergency lighting. When the mains power comes back, the through hole (13) is blocked, and the draining module (50) pumps salt water in the second compartment (12) back to the first compartment (11). Such cycling fulfills environmental protection without consuming electrode plates unnecessarily.
