Abstract

A connecting device for saving space and improving organisation of items stored on clothes hangers or garment hangers comprises a loop of flexible, non-elastic material having first and second ends joined by a knot to form the loop. The single or repeated vertical use of one or more connecting devices and clothes hangers forms a chain of clothes on hangers (a 'clothes chain'), and allows more effective use of the storage space available. The connecting device may be manufactured from natural materials, incorporate beads or similar additional items to improve the overall aesthetic appearance of the connecting device and to simplify the arrangement, coordination and selection of clothing and may be impregnated with fragrance or scent.

Description

Description -
The title of my invention is a space saving wardrobe accessory. The name given to my invention is Loopyloops.
This invention relates to a connecting device for saving space and facilitating organisation of items stored on clothes hangers, for example in a wardrobe, or on a hanging rail or hook. The connecting device is constructed to incorporate beads or similar additional items to improve the overall aesthetic appearance of the connecting device and to simplify the arrangement and selection of clothing based upon colour matching. The design of the connecting device permits the use of naturally occuning materials.
The connecting device is constructed from a length of flexible strong non-elastic naturally occurring material approximately 20cm to 30cm in length (but not limited to), such as leather thong or cotton cord (but not limited to), where by the two ends of the flexible material are joined by a knot to form a loop. A material attachment of differing colour, texture, size and shape is added to each of the two loose ends of flexible material, to enhance the appearance of the connecting device.
The idea of a connecting device for clothes hangers to solve storage space problems may not be new (there are plastic, bulky, expensive and unattractive clothes hanger connecting devices on the market and in use commercially). Also the idea of a loop itself is not new. However the use of a flexible material loop, with its attractive material attachments, designed for use as a naturally occurring connecting device to solve a space storage problem and improve the organisation of clothes within a hanging location, is I believe new.
The horizontal rail of a wardrobe, or other hanging rail, hook or location used for hanging clothes upon, can quickly become full to capacity due to the volume of clothes hanging and the thickness or effective depth of the hangers. In particular, horizontal free movement of hangers upon a rail becomes limited when the rail is full.
With too many hangers on a rail, hook or location, insertion of more clothes hangers becomes awkward and clothes become compacted and creased. Without space between hanging items it becomes harder to move hanging items in order to view and select them.
To overcome this problem the present invention enables more efficient and effective use of the vertical space. It also allows improved organisation and management of the stored items. By placing one connecting device over a clothes hanger hook (see figure 1), where the first clothes hanger is hung directly upon the main hanging location, and then placing a further clothes hanger hook through the connecting device (see figure 2), a clothes chain' is formed. Additional hangers and connecting devices can then be connected in succession to create a clothes chain that makes more effective use of the vertical space of the particular hanging location.
In this way the clothes chain' minimises the effective depth of the hangers placed on the hanging location and significantly improves the useful capacity of the hanging location -function and advantage 1.
Description -
This in turn means fewer clothes hangers are placed directly upon the main hanging location, resulting in freer movement of the key supporting hangers and the associated clothes chains' -function and advantage 2.
If all hangers within the hanging location have a connecting device upon them, then any clothes hanger item can be quickly and easily moved around freely from one clothes chain' to another, within the hanging location, and simplify the arrangement, co-ordination and selection of clothing. Clothing can thus be arranged in a number of different ways such as randomly, by colour, by product type (e.g. skirts, blouses etc), by outfits (e.g. top, skirt, cardigan) -function and advantage 3.
The connecting device is designed so as to enable its construction in a number of ways including (but not limited to) by hand using natural materials that are recyclable (for example, wood, leather, cotton, glass), and in an attractive and aesthetically pleasing way.

Claims (4)

  1. Claims - 1. A connecting device for attaching one clothes hanger to another, where the connecting pattern can be repeated using further connecting devices and clothes hangers in a continuous vertical hanging chain, thereby making more efficient use of the vertical and horizontal space within a hanging environment and improving organisation of items within the hanging space, whereby the connecting device is made from a flexible strong non-elastic naturally occuning material approximately 20cm to 30cm in length, where the two ends of the flexible material are joined by a knot to form a loop. The use of a naturally occurring flexible material loop, designed in an attractive way with material attachments, for the purposes of connecting clothes hangers is, I believe, new.
  2. 2. A connecting device according to claim 1, in which the connective device has material attachments of differing colour, texture, size and shape to improve the aesthetic presentation and attractiveness of the device and assist with organisation of the hung items.
  3. 3. A connecting device according to claims 1 and/or 2, in which the connecting device can be lengthened if necessary to accommodate a variety of clothes hanger types and reduce any potential horizontal bulk and thereby make more effective use of the available horizontal space.
  4. 4. A connecting device according to claims 1 and/or 2 and/or 3, in which the connective device can be impregnated with fragrance or scent to provide a pleasant smell originating from the device.
