Abstract

A visual presentation prompting aid with a screen that loops through a sequence of images and is controlled by the presenter using a foot switch or infrared remote control. The display screen may be located in a discrete black floor-standing wedge shaped housing where it is hidden from the audience. Words, pictures, diagrams and other images to be used in the presentation may be stored on a memory stick and a slideshow of images may be advanced by the operator using the remote control or foot switch. The portable device may be a re-programmed media player with no computer operating system running. The device is a visual prompt of words and images to aid a speaker when delivering a speech in front of an audience.

Background
This invention developed from the need to remember vast amounts of information when performing / speaking in front of an audience. It is impossible to find a portable, non-PC (personal computer) / software based product to display words and images, that is fully controlled by the user. A key requirement was for any product to be as invisible as possible to the audience giving the performer / speaker increased confidence.
intended use This invention can be used by any person that needs a visual prompt of words, pictures or diagrams when in a public broadcast or performance environment. The wedge design and black covering of the housing makes it such that any audience are un aware of the screen mounted inside, or that the performer / speaker is using a visual prompt. The absence of an intergrated or remote PC (personal computer) gives the product increased reliability when used in a performing environment and negates the need for an additional remote operator.
Operation Prior to the use of this invention, groups of words, pictures, diagrams or any other images required are saved as JPG images using a PC, MAC or similar. The individual files are given file names in the order that the JPG files are to be viewed in (01, 02, 03 etc) and saved onto a standard USB memory stick.
Setting up the invention for use requires only two simple steps. The memory stick is inserted into the USB socket on the front panel and the unit is connected to a power source.
When using the invention, JPG file "01 is displayed by default. Using the foot switch that is plugged into the front panel, or using the remote control, the operator can move forward (or backward) through the JPG files (images) at the speed required.
The product comprises / construction 1. A wedge shaped housing, with integrated air vents, top and bottom with a carrying handle and rubber feet on both bottom surfaces. The housing is covered in textured black vinyl with corner protectors.
2. A colour flat screen mounted within the front opening of the housing.
3. A digital media player that reads the JPG files from the USB memory stick, is mounted inside the housing. It has been specially programmed to display JPG files in order of file name (01, 02, 03, etc) by way of a wired foot switch or remote control. Further programming allows no menu to be visible at start-up and for the files to loop back to the beginning.
4. A surface mounted panel housing a 9Volt power socket, USB socket, foot switch control socket and Infa Red remote control transmitter. All sockets lead back to the media player / monitor via cables.
