Abstract

247,877. Mõder, O. Oct. 13, 1925. Turntables for portable railways comprise a rotary platform carried by a stationary base 1 to which are adjustably secured short rail lengths 9, 17, 21 for connecting with the converging tracks 8, 16, 19. The base 1 has rollers 2 and may carry one or both platforms 4, 5, the latter being hinged to a ramp 6 provided with rails 40, 41, Fig. 1, which are either duplicated or adjustable for change of gauge. In a modification, Fig. 6, the rails 42 are pressed from the ramp. The base 1 has a series of slots 7 for securing the rails, three methods being shown. The rails 9 are riveted or welded to clips 10 secured to slots 12 in a plate 13 having slots 15 for attaching to the base 1. In another form, the rails 17 are directly connected to a plate 18 adjustably attached to the base 1. In the third form, each rail 21 is secured to a separate clip 23 slotted at 27. For intersecting tracks, one long rail 19 is secured to a plate 32 having arcuate slots 33 for the converging rail 20, a short length rail being inserted in the outside rail 20.
