Abstract

A unit to support a sound system including means to dampen vibrations and isolate individual sound system elements from external influences. This may take the form of a rack or cabinet where rubber bands 1 are mounted between rigid supports 2 such that the sound system elements can be supported on the rubber bands 1. The supports may be stacked on top of each other to mount a number of individual sound system elements.

Description

Hi Fi SuDportllsolation System This invention relates to a Hi-Fi Support system & problems with vibration, causing interference to Hi Fi components which results in distortion of sound.
When hi fi units such as amplifiers, cd players, record players & other sound systems are placed on current stands eg. hi fi rack or table (fig 1. 5). Some of the sound is absorbed & displaced through the rack/table it is supported by & is also subject to vibration (fig 1. 6) which causes the components to underperform, thereby affecting the quality of the sound which is emitted through the units & ultimately the speakers (fig 1. 3).
To overcome this, the present invention proposes a system which not only supports the individual units (Cd player, amplifier etc) it isolates them from external influences. It accomplishes this by supporting each individual unit on at least 2 seperate strips of rubber bands (fig 2. 1), stretched across a framework (fig 2. 2)positioned in such a way that the components (fig 2. 4) rest on them. This has the effect of: 1. Supporting the components 2. Isolating them from (a) Airborne vibration (fig 2. 6) ie. sound waves (b) Vibration coming from the floor (fig 2. 7) ie. traffic or walking 3. Any vibration coming from within the components ie. spinning Cd in Cd player. Is damped due to the damping effects inherent in the rubber strips Then each individual frame sits on top of the rubber bands of the unit below, which also isolates each level & acts as a damper.
