Abstract

A hygienic cover, for a handle 3, comprising a flexible support 1, 4 and a cleaning surface 2. The cleaning surface may be a dry wipe or chemical dispensing wick wherein the chemical is a disinfectant or cleaning agent. The cover or sleeve to fits easily around existing handles.

Description

Title: Hygienic handle
Background:
This invention relates to a device that attaches to door handles which when gripped cleans the operator's hand.
It is quite common that people do not wash their hands after using a public toilet. As the majority of public toilets, in shops, sports centres and work places have pull to exit handles all users are exposed to this poor hygiene. Regardless of whether a person is very hygienic themselves, opening the door will result in the germs being transferred from previous less hygienic people to them.
Statement of invention:
To overcome this, the present invention proposes a device that attaches to door handles and becomes the point of contact for the operator. This device will clean the operator's hand using either chemical or dry wipes attached to the device during the process of opening the door.
Advantages: The device will attach to existing handles and will help reduce germs being transferred between multi user facilities, such as public toilets.
Preferably, the device will be a consumable item Preferably, the device will use chemical or dry wipe technology Preferably, the device will be flexible in construction to allow it to clip around existing handles.

Detailed description
Dry wipes or a chemical dispensing wick 2 is attached to flexible support 1 & 4 using either adhesive or mechanical methods to form a cleaning surface. The flexible support 1 & 4 can be deformed to allow it to pass over the handle 3 and then return to its original shape to grip the handle 3.
When the handle 3 is gripped during the normal operation of opening a door, the hand is in contact with the cleaning surface 2 reducing the number of germs transferred from or to the operator.
The flexible support shape 1 & 4 would be made to suit different styles of handles, including, but not restricted to, straight handles 1 & knob handles 4.
If dry wipes are used to form the cleaning surface 2, these may be removed individually to create a new surface. Claim
