Abstract

A trestle comprises a main body and legs, and means allowing the legs to be fixed at different heights and at various angles to the main body. This may be achieved through pre-drilled holes on the main body and legs, which are engaged by a steel pin. The trestle can be used on uneven ground or down narrow work areas whilst maintaining a level work surface to stand on and work from.

Description

TERRAIN TRESTLE
This application is for the modification of an existing working trestle with the ability to work off uneven ground or down narrow lanes or work areas.
Using trestles through my own experience in the construction workplace I have time and time again been in situations where trestles available at the moment have a complete inability to be used on uneven surfaces, slight hill, bumpy ground, near a curb or in narrow lanes. They are very rigid and are only designed for very flat, large open spaces, which is not always the available environment when working with the need for a trestle.
To overcome the problems described by simply having the leg come out of the base (rather than pushed up from the top of the leg), and careftilly pre-drilling holes to the trestles they can be used on uneven ground and narrow lanes, without losing their strength.

TERRAIN TRESTLE
Figure 1 Shows a drawing of the Trestle with the legs separated from the main body. The legs are pre drilled every 100 mm. They Slide up and down inside the main body to the desired height. They are then fixed in place with a steel pin on a loop which slides through pre drilled holes in the main body and through the leg. This allows both legs to be set at different heights and angles with the ability to keep the working height level, even though the ground is unlevel.
Figure 2 A (A) Shows the pre drilled holes that would allow the legs of the trestle to be used down a narrow lane or work area by having the ability to fix the legs at angles to the main body by using pins through the pre drilled holes, hence shortening the trestle width.
B (B) Shows the pre drilled holes in the main body which are drilled at different heights so legs have the ability to be set at any height depending on the slope of the land. Again so working surface to stand on is level. *.. * * * ** * *... * *
Figure 3 **.S * * Shows the trestle set at what would be a narrow work area i.e. inbetween two * * houses by angling the legs. * . * *.. ** * * S * **
TERRAIN TRESTLE
The trestle becomes narrower without losing the stability because the legs are able to stay parallel with walls.
Figure 4 Shows the side elevation to describe the ability of the trestle when used on steps or sloping ground but because of the pre drilled holes being drilled at offset spaces the top of the trestle will remain level. * I I *I I
