Abstract

A surfboard beach stand comprises a frame B supported by two supporting members and an aperture A which in use receives the nose or tip of the surfboard, to support the board above the damaging hot sand a beach. Textile or fabric type material may provide a head rest C which is attached to the support frame B. On the reverse side of the headrest there may be provided a pouch or pocket D which can be used to hold personal items. The surfboard beach stand may also be attached to a back pack (G, Fig 5) with releasable fasteners (F, Fig 5), the support frame B being attached to the back pack G. In this embodiment the head rest C provides the outside material of the back pack.

Description

SURFBOARD BEACH STAND
This invention relates to a surfboard stand The problems it solves: When a surfboard is placed on hot sand, the hot sand and other small particles stick and mix with the surf wax on the deck of the surfboard which results in a decrease in the effectiveness of the surf wax. When sand sticks to surf wax it can cause irritating skin rashes because sand mixed with surf wax acts like sandpaper against ones skin when paddling a surfboard. The hot sand can also cause the fiberglass to delaminate or separate from the foam underneath the fiberglass.
Statement of invention
To overcome these problems this present invention proposes a stand to support a surfboard off the sand by using a frame which consists two support members and an aperture at the top of a said support frame in which the nose of the surfboard is inserted. After insertion of the nose of the surfboard into the aperture the bottom of the frame is pulled away from the surfboard to the desired angle and placed into the sand. The angle of the frame will decrease the size of the aperture at the top which in turn will pinch or wedge the nose of the surfboard and hold it taught. The desired angle of the frame combined with the weight of the surfboard supports the surfboard and keeps it off the hot sand. Attached to the two supporting members is a textile or fabric type head rest that can be used when the desired angle of the frame or stand is achieved. Attached to the reverse side of the head rest is a pouch or pocket to hold personal items such as a music device or magazines etc. Advantages The surfboard beach stand will keep hot sand and other types of unwanted debris from mixing or sticking to the surf wax on the deck of a surfboard.
The Surfboard stand will help prevent the hot sand from causing structural damage to the surfboard.
Preferably it has support frame and an aperture located at the top of said support frame.
Preferably the legs of the support frame has a textile or fabric type head rest attached.
Preferably it will have a pocket for personal things located on the reverse side of the head rest.
When the surfboard beach stand is being used as intended it will provide a place to rest your head. The space or shady area underneath the surfboard whilst it is in the stand will provide protection from the weather for personal property such as a food cooler. Whilst the surfboard is in the stand the surfboard will provide a suitable sand free platform in which to place a wetsuit for drying and or to place a beach towel. The beach towel and or the wetsuit will also protect the surfboard from the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun. The stand can be attached to a back pack for easy carrying and can be used in the prescribed manner when attached to the back pack.
Introduction to drawings
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings: Figures 1, 2, and 3 show the surfboard beach stand according to the invention.
Figure 4 and 5 show the surfboard beach stand according to the invention when attached to a back pack.

Description
Surfboard Beach Stand A frame with an aperture A for the insertion of the tip or nose of the surfboard where the frame B has two supporting members attached to aperture A. The nose or tip of the surfboard is inserted into the aperture A and the support frame B is placed in the sand at a desired angle. The desired angle of said frame B will close the aperture A until the tip or nose of the surfboard becomes wedged or pinched. This procedure will hold the surfboard secure A-fig 3. The textile or fabric head rest C being attached to two support members of frame B. Located on the reverse side of the head rest C will be a pocket or pouch fig 3-D in which to hold personal items such as music devices etc. The frame B can be also be attached by releasable fasteners F to a backpack-Figure 4 and 5 and used in the above described maimer figure 6.
Once the surfboard is inserted into the surfboard beach stand as described above it will create a space under the surfboard that provides protection from the sun in which to place a food cooler and other personal belongings. The surfboard itself provides a suitable sand free platform fig. 3, 5-E on which to place ones wetsuit for drying and or a beach towel which will also protect the surfboard from damaging ultraviolet rays from the sun. The frame B can be made from a metal rod and bent to the desired shape. It can also be made from a mould of plastic or similar material. The structure which makes up the aperture A can be encased in soft padding or it can be made of flexible rubber, canvas or similar material which will not cause damage to said surfboard. The head rest C fabric or textile can be attached to the frame B by glue, velcro or stitching. The pouch fig 3-D located on the reverse side can be a continuous part of the same material as the head rest C and can be folded back around the frame B to create it or it can be attached separately.
