Abstract

A processing machine has a tank (101) with end plates (102), front and back plates (103) and a bottom plate (104). The plates are of plastics material welded together. The three manifolds are below the bottom plate and comprise outer feed manifolds (107) and a central return manifold (108). A series of spaced drillings (109) allow liquid in the tank to flow into the return manifold to a pump (110). This pumps the liquid to the feed manifolds (111), whence it flows out through bores (112). A series of upper and lower guides (113,114) is provided crossing the tank. The lower ones (114) have short downwards extending tubes (115), carrying 0-rings (116), which engage in the bores (112). The guide have downwards directed drillings (116) along their length. In use, liquid is pumped out through the drillings. Above the guides, tubes (117), which are not open into the guides, extend up to the top of the front and back plates (103) and carry hook members (118), which locate on the top edges of the front and back plates. To assist in locating the tubes (115) in the bores (112), the front and back plates have grooves (119) machined in them and end fittings (120) of the guide tubes have spigots (121), which engage in the grooves. The upper guides (113) are similarly arranged to the lower guides, except the upper guides have long tubes (122) extending down to the manifolds and short (tubes 123) extending up to their hooks (118). In use a web W can pass sinuously over the upper guides and under the lower guides, being kept just off them by the liquid being pumped from the guides. The upper guides have clips (127) around them for locating the web laterally on the guides.
