Abstract

Heating by electricity.- In electric seam-welding, the edges of the seam are fused by an electric arc formed between the work R and a conical rotating disc E consisting of a secondclass conductor such as silicium carbide, which is kept below fusing temperature, but is kept so hot as to maintain the arc even when the electrode is the cathode. Alternating current may thus be used.
