Abstract
The open crate has walls with the free edge having a profile comprising notches shaped for locating work items such as gutters 5, timber planks 6, pipes or tubes 7, 8, timber posts or beams 9, doors (10, Fig.2) or worktops (11, Fig.2). It can also be used in inverted fashion, as shown in Fig. 1, so that the base becomes a work platform, which also is notched so as to locate metal bars 1, plasterboard and plywood sheets 2, 3, and pipes 4. The walls extend in upwards direction at a slight angle so that the crates can be nested or stacked upon one another. The crate is made in plastic so as to be weatherproof.
Description
Work Crate Description: For use in the Construction trade and D.LY.
Constructed in plastic. The crate is intended for holding materials for the following: Cutting, planing, routing, painting, soldering, welding, fitting door furniture.
It is also used as a standing platform.
The crates are designed to stack one on top of the other. Made from plastic they can be left out in the rain and are lightweight for easy handling.
For the larger items such as work tops and sheets of ply, 2 crates are required.
Materials that can he used: Sawn and prepared timber. (various sizes).
Plastic pipe up to 115mm.
Plastic clay and metal pipe up to 11 5nim.
Plasterboard, ply and various sheet material.
Metal bar.
Timber doors, worktops.
Claims (6)
- Claims Constructed in plastic from a mould. The crate is intended for holding materials for the following purposes: Cutting, planing, routing, painting, spraying, soldering, welding, fitting door furniture.It is also used as a standing platform for many purposes.The crates are designed to stack one on top of the other for space saving of about 50%.Made from plastic they can be left out in the rain and are lightweight for easy handling.Smaller items need only 1 crate.For the larger items such as work tops and sheets of ply, 2 crates are required.Amendment to the claims have been filed as follows 1. -A stackable crate comprising a plurality of first location-recesses of different dimensions ona top edge of thc crate for supporUng work items when the crate is in a first orientation, and a plurality of second location-recesses of different dimensions across a base of the crate; for supporting work items when the crate is in a second inverted orientation, said recesses, each substantially shaped to correspond with the shape of at least a portion of the section of a corresponding work item,sufflcient to substantially locate the work item, wherein either the first or the second plurality of recesses comprises at least an upright notch having substaritiaily parallel upright walls, suitable for holding, in use, in a clàse fit, a substanliafly planer item in upright position.
- 2. -The staclcablc crate of claim 1, charseterized by the planer item being a building item selected from the group consisting of metal bars, ply sheets, plasterboard, timber doors; and kitchen worktops.
- -The stackable crate of any preceding claim, wherein the distance between the said substantially parallel walls is selected from the group consisting of 15mm, 22mm, 32mm, S5nun, or 45mm.
- 4. -The stackable crate of any preceding claim, wherin either the first or the second plurality of recesses further compromise.at least a U-shaped notch, suitable for holding, in a substantially close fit, a building item selected from the group consisting of 22mm. diameter pipe, 25mm diameter pipe, 56mm diameter pipe, and 115 nun diameter pipe.
- 5. -The stackable crate of any preceding claim, wherein either the first or the second plinlity of recesses further comprise at least a V-shaped notch.
- 6. -The stackable crate of any preceding claim, wherein either the first or the second plurality of recesses further compromise an upright notëh having substanally parallel iipiight walls, suitable for holding a building item selected from the group consisting of a guttering having a half round section or guttering having a square section.-The stackable crate of any preceding claim, made of plastic.
