Abstract
A closure for a bottle comprises a crown cap which has a ring-pull2.3to enable a hole to be formed in the cap through which a straw can be inserted. The ring-pull2.3is rotatable about a pivot point2.2. The ring-pull2.3then being lifted upwards to open a hole in the cap, leaving the remainder of the cap secured to the bottle. A straw is also disclosed, which has barbs1.1or spikes on the lower end, which point upwards. When the straw is inserted through the hole, the barbs1.1prevent the straw's withdrawal. The combined cap and straw prevent unauthorised contamination of the contents of the bottle. The cap may be removed with a conventional bottle opener.
Description
The Drink Safe System by Dale Gordon Conroy.
This system operates by having a ring pull bottle crown fitted at the manufacturers filling plant. The ring pull bottle crown has a rotating ring pull that is pivoted around and then lifted upwards to open the bottle. This action pulls out a 4.75mm hole in the bottle crown, leaving the rest of the crown secure to the bottle. The second part of this system is a special drinking straw that has spikes pointing upwards and outwards, the spikes are located on the straw in the bottom section of the straw. These spikes are able to go through the hole in the bottle crown but not be able to be removed. The advantages of this system are:- 1. Insects cannot get into the bottle.
2. With the straw unable to be removed, it makes it very difficult to contaminate the contents of the bottle 3. The bottle can be opened without the use of a bottle opener.
4. The bottle crown can be used with normal drinking straw.
5. Very simple to use.
