Abstract

246,088. Wagenbach, A. Nov. 24, 1925. Rods and bars.-In an apparatus for bending metal rods for reinforced concrete of the kind in which the rod is gripped between a rotatable roller and a swing- ing bending lever; a gripping member having a special gripping surface is rotatably mounted on the lever. The rod passes through a guide 2 and is secured to the roller 5 by a spiral member 7 mounted with lever 4. The roller is mounted on a power-driven axle 3 carrying the lever and the rod is gripped tightly thereon during the bending action. In a handoperated apparatus a fixed axle 3, Fig. 2, is used, the lever 4 being moved by hand by means of a pipe placed thereon. Gripping members of different sizes may be used according to the thickness of the rod, in which case the lever may have a single hole only to receive the bolt 6. The gripping members may be placed either directly on the bolt 6 or over a roller 9 placed thereon.
