Abstract
245,871. Johnson, W. M., (Tarkhad, R. A.). Oct. 25, 1924. Pistons. - A tool for facilitating the insertion of a piston into its cylinder consists of a ring 4 having a bevelled bore for compressing the piston rings. The tool may be formed with a flange 4b engaging a groove in the cylinder flange and may be provided with handles 4<a>. Alternatively, the ring 4 may be secured to the cylinder by means of hooked bolts passing through lugs on the ring and engaging projections on the cylinder. A device for a multi-cylinder engine consists of two parts clamped together to form a ring for each cylinder, the rings having tapered bores for the insertion of the pistons.
