Abstract

A hinged grab bar 1 pivots on a storage unit via brackets 2 with built in mechanical stops 3, and a damping arrangement 4. The damping arrangement comprises friction discs 5 and a spring loaded tensioning device 6 for adjusting the damping pressure applied to the friction discs 5.

Hinged grab bar pivot damper.
This invention relates to a device for damping the movement of a hinged grab bar.
In various industries where on site storage is required for tools, fuel etc, the storage units are moved by mobile machinery crane grabs, lifting via a cross bar (grab bar).
There is a need on some storage units for the grab bar to move from above the storage unit, to give clear access to the storage space from above.
Due to the weight of the grab bar, there is a need to provide a means to prevent it pivoting down quickly, possibly causing injury to the operative and damaging the storage unit.
Drawing 1 of!, shows a grab bar 1, pivoted on the stowage unit via brackets 2, with built in mechanical stops 3, with a damping anangement 4. This includes friction disc's 5, and spring loaded tensioning device 6, for adjusting the damping pressure. 2.
