Abstract

An animal feed preparation unit comprises a portable container that allows animal feed such as hay to be soaked and/or steamed prior to feeding thereby eliminating mites and dust spores that are harmful to horses and other animals. The container has entry locations A for steaming rods and a lid (fig 2) with holes (A, fig 2) that allow effluent water to be drained the contaminated waste water to be drained from the container. The container sits on a wheeled frame (fig 3) that allows the container to be manoeuvred.

Mobile Horse Feed Preparation Unit Description

The invention is a device for purifying animal feed; it will eliminate mites and dust spores, which are harmful to horses and other animals.

To eliminate mites and dust spores in gestation risk to horses, hay is soaked and or steamed before feeding it to the animal. At present this can be done using several methods all of which can be difficult, heavy and hard work with the use of different containers and equipment.

To overcome these problems the invention is an all in one unit, which can be adapted for either soaking and or steaming, it has the added benefit of being one complete unit to be used for the process as opposed to several items being used as at present. It will prevent the user from making contact with cold and contaminated water and avoid heavy lifting and carrying.

The device is a structured container on wheels, which includes a lid containing penetrations. For soaking, the container is filled with water and the hay soaked or steamed by the introduction of a steam rod or rods in the instructed location/s, after a regulated time laps the effluent water is drained safely into a container and the hay wheeled to its location, a complete unit ensuring the process of soaking and or steaming hay can work quickly and effectively.

The invention will now be described by example and as shown on the drawings.

Figure One shows the shape of the frame and the position of the wheels, note the wheels at the front are smaller to be used to move the container without lifting the handles and for balance when the container is tipped up for emptying, the larger wheels are to be used to manoeuvre the wheelbarrow when the handles are in use. The frame enables the unit to be balanced to give the user an easy lift to the upright position; while the water drains out through the lid, allowing the user to collect the wastewater (classified as effluent) in a container for controlled disposal.
