Abstract

A collection device for animal excrement comprises a shape <B>1</B> of fully compostable and biodegradable material with at least one drawstring around the periphery. When the drawstring is pulled a bag is formed which encloses the excrement to form a bag. The edge of the device maybe folded over to contain the at least one drawstring, alternatively, the edge of the device may be perforated <B>3</B> at intervals and the at least one drawstring may be woven through. The device may have two drawstrings which are pulled in opposing directions to close the bag.

Description

This invention relates to the collection and disposal of pet faeces in an environmentally-friendly manner.

Living in an urban environment, it is easily observed that there Is a proliferation of pet (particularly dog) fouling of pavements and green spaces -not only is it a nuisance for unwary pedestrians, but it is also unhygienic and difficult if not impossible to clear up. Part of the growing problem may be that pet owners do not have the facility to swiftly and discreetly collect and dispose of their pet's faeces. There are other products on the market intended to fulfil this purpose, but many of them are complicated or unwieldy; others require direct handling of the waste, which Is understandably unpalatable and which seems to cause some embarrassment.

This invention aims to provide a simple and hygienic solution, which at the same time is environmentally-friendly. The invention consists of a shape of fully compostable and biodegradable material, possibly manufactured from cornstarch, vegetable oil, and/or biodegradable and compostable polyester. My illustrations are of a circular version, but as this is not the most economical of shapes to manufacture, other shapes may be produced.
