Wire strainers.-Relates to supporting the straining means for tennis nets &c., of the type wherein one end of the supporting cord j of the net passes over the top of a post b and is secured to a sleeve r, the vertical position of which is adjustable on the post, and consists in connecting the sleeve r by means of a chain u to a straining-lever w, and in the provision of a securing-chain v adapted to engage both a stepped series of notches y in the sleeve and a stepped series of hooks z on the post. The lever w is pivoted to an adjustable clamp q on the post, and when not in use is held in upright position by a loop x. The post is slotted at its upper end to receive a pulley d over which the cord j passes. A tubular socket k having groundplates m, n is provided for the reception of the lower end of the post, a slot being provided in the upper end of the socket to register with a plate p forming part of the clamp q. The post for supporting the other end of the net is similar to the post b but is provided with a series of fixed hooks in lieu of the sleeve r and straining-lever w.
